SE Alaska Discovery Cruise

  • Destination: Sumdum Motor Yacht
  • Duration: 7 days/6 nights
  • Price: $38,500
  • Available: June 01, 2012 — August 30, 2012

7 Day Full Charter / 8 guests - All Inclusive

The motor yacht SUMDUM is home based in Alaska's first City, Ketchikan. Ketchikan is an ideal starting point for an Alaskan adventure and less than two hours by plane from Seattle on scheduled airlines. It is designed for action, for providing an experience totally unlike those offered by cruise liners. The SUMDUM means the difference between observing Alaska or becoming totally involved.

Our charters are customized to the desires and objectives of our clients. Using our knowledge to meet those objectives is our goal. Pre-booking contact with our captain is encouraged to ensure the route chosen best meets the desires and needs of the guests (see crew page for contact information). Most trips are action oriented (fishing, crabbing, shrimping, beach combing, hiking, photography and kayaking in pristine estuaries) rather than just cruising. The point is to experience this untouched wilderness in its primitive form and dine on natures daily bounty of fresh caught seafoods.

Each month offers something different to the sportsman and conservationist alike. Trout are available in early May, King Salmon in late May to early July and Coho salmon in late July through September. Fly fishing in remote streams and lakes, many accessible only by boat or float plane, usually begins in July. Halibut, crab and shrimp are available all season. Salmon spawning and related bear watching is best mid July to mid September. Cruising to ice filled fjords around Juneau, with associated whale watching can be arranged. Sumdum operates with a USFS guide/outfitters permit for the Tongass National Forest.

Included:  Food and beverages, fuel, crew, salt water fishing tackle, fishing licenses, airport pickup and delivery.

Not included:  Rain gear, fly fishing equipment, satellite, cellular or radio telephone charges and gratuities.

Reservations and Payment

Reservations should be made as early as possible due to the popularity of summer charters.  Your space aboard SUMDUM is confirmed upon receipt of a 50% deposit.  The balance is due 30 days prior to departure.  More detailed information pertaining to your trip will be sent upon receipt of your deposit.

Cancellation Policy

If notice of cancellation is received at least 90 days prior to departure, 50% of the deposit will be refunded.  All charter fees collected become non-refundable if notice of cancellation is received within 90 days of departure, even if full payment has been made.

We may reschedule your trip on a space available basis, however only 50% of any fees collected can be applied toward the balance due for the new charter dates.
Please read this section in conjunction with the "Reservations and Payment" section above.
