Midnight Sun Yacht
The Midnight Sun is a 70 foot custom Westport motor yacht designed for cruising Alaska's Inside Passage and is owned operated by Captain/engineer Bob Wostmann. With 35 years at the helm and 28 seasons traveling over 40,000 miles in the Alaska Inside Passage, Captain Bob is a truly experienced seafarer.
The Midnight Sun has dinghies for for wildlife viewing, fishing & exploring with or without a crew operator. The 14-foot Battelli RIB has a 30 HP electric start, center console steering and depth sounder for fishing; the 12-foot Achilles inflatable has a 15 HP outboard.
The Midnight Sun accommodates up to six guests in three beautifully appointed staterooms, each with full bath ensuite. The motor yacht is equipped with all the amenities to make your stay enjoyable.
Yacht Features
The Midnight Sun spacious guest cabins are located forward away from crew traffic and all machinery noise. Each has its own TV and DVD, excellent lighting and either a portlight or a hatch. The generator is off and power is provided by a battery system during sleeping hours. All three guest cabins have full bath ensuite. Showers are large with individual enclosures and European-style shower heads. Toilets are automatic, silent and odor free. Hot water is available at all times.
Guest Services
The captain and crew facilitate all your needs. Baggage is picked up from your hotel or airport and transferred to your stateroom. In most cases wheelchair access is workable.
Salon
The plush main salon features comfy leather furniture, a cozy wood-burning fireplace, elaborate activity center with 35" TV, DVD, surround sound, VCR, CD, Sirius satellite radio etc., 240 movies for all ages, video games connection, board games, circulating hot water heating and an ever-changing panoramic view of rugged Alaska outdoor scenery in majestic proportions visible while seated from the comfort of the yacht's main salon and pilothouse.
Pilot House
A large leather settee, big chart table and an Alaska nature library, large wrap around windows and a secure outside walk-around deck for wildlife viewing and photography.The Crew's Quarters are completely removed from the guest living areas and cabins. Crew normally dines in the pilothouse.
Fishing and Weather Equipment Provided
Leisure fishing aboard the Midnight Sun provides copious quantities of silver salmon, king salmon, halibut, rock fish, delicious Dungeness crab or huge prawns. Fresh from line to barbeque, or prepared to your taste. It's out of this world! Fishing licenses, professional fishing gear, bait and lures along with crabbing equipment are included. Rain gear and boots are supplied and fitted to each guest.

Dock and dingy access is especially easy with a recessed staircase built into the stern and a large stern platform which is about 9 inches above the water. Dinghies for wildlife viewing, fishing, and exploring and can be lowered and readied in minutes.

Humpback whales are a sure thing on every trip! Your friendly cabin steward is also the photographer, capturing fishing and crabbing fun along with wildlife viewing, scenery and waterfalls, glaciers and icebergs, games, skits, parties, toasts and feasts of your vacation. No guest left out behind the camera! DVD copies are made for you all to take home. She is an accomplished photographer and will insure your memories of the trip.
At times we will be completely surrounded by a group of Orcas (Killer Whales) who seem to completely ignore us as they aggressively feed on a school of salmon.

You can even take a flight-seeing trip from a float plane that arrives and departs from the stern of the yacht! With the Midnight Sun, every cruise is customized to the clients interests by your Captain.
The Midnight Sun has undergone a series of extensive refits each winter since 2005 at Philbrooks Boatyard and Lake Union Boat Repair. From the top of her mast to the keel, every part of the vessel has been thoroughly inspected, repaired as needed, and refinished. She looks like a brand new yacht! Additionally there have been major upgrades to her navigation and electrical systems. The winterof 06/07 saw more upgrades to the guest cabins, the crew and utility spaces, and significant engine and mechanical systems refits were completed. This winter we are at Philbrooks again for the final phase of new paint on the hull and some routine repairs. Come spring, she will seem like a completely new boat !

The Midnight Sun is flagged in the USA, commercially documented, and cruises 10 to 13 knots on twin 360HP turbo diesels. The yacht features two generator sets, two inverters, reverse osmosis fresh water maker, 1100 gallons of fuel, and 500 gallons of water.

Equipped with today's best navigation electronics including GPS, radar and sonar; 2 dinghies, 10-man self inflating life raft, automatic fire extinguisher systems, smoke alarms, duplication of all primary safety systems and a knowledgeable captain and crew.

Ship-to-shore radio and onboard cellular and satellite phone services ensures that friends, relatives and associates can reach you. Guests can bring their personal cellular phones, which are have coverage in many areas.
