Mission Lodge
Mission Lodge, considered to be the finest fly-out lodge operation in the state, is located on the shores of Lake Aleknagik in the heart of the Bristol Bay region of Southwest Alaska.
In operation since 1984, Mission Lodge is within easy flying distance to the finest streams in this part of the state. This area offers unsurpassed trophy fishing for Salmon and Trout in a spectacular wilderness setting.
Accommodations & Dining
Easy access from Anchorage, deluxe facilities, spa, sauna, hot tub, sumptuous dining created by a master chef, a comfortable lounge, and recreation area are added features of Mission Lodge. A large deck surrounding the facility is just steps from the dock, float planes and boats. Large bay windows frame views of Lake Aleknagik and the beautiful mountains beyond.Mission Lodge hosts 20-24 guests each week and is one of the only lodges in Alaska where a private room is standard. Special suites, each with a private bath, are available for couples.
Fishing
MissionLodge takes guests by floatplane to a different location to target five species of Pacific Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Arctic Char, Dolly Varden, Arctic Grayling, Lake Trout and Northern Pike and many combinations thereof.
Gear, Equipment & Seafood Preparation
Fully guided daily adventures (including float plane transportation), all necessary gear and equipment (including fishing gear , waders and wading boots), filleting, packaging, and freezing of Salmon species are included in your Alaska fishing vacation.
Aircraft, Boats & Guides
Mission Lodge operates three (3) DeHavilland Beavers on floats and has over 40 boats stashed throughout the Bristol Bay region. At many of the destinations, you will fly in and meet your guide who will be waiting for you with a boat. At other destinations, you will fly with your guide and will have a boat at your destination. Some destinations will be accessable only by foot, others will have a kayak waiting for you or you will bring a raft with you. All of this will be pre-planned the evening before and will be fully orchestrated by your professional guide.
Activities
Wildlife viewing abounds! Brown Bear, caribou, moose, red fox, bald eagles, and walrus await your photographic talents in some of the most spectacular places to visit in Alaska!
Hiking! Explore the abandoned mine on Marsh Mountain. You will be rewarded with an abundance of mountain wildflowers, (especially in June and July) and a good view of the beautiful surroundings.
For wilderness hikes, there are a number special fishing spots or places along the route of our lake hops. The guide will take you up ancient game trails to never-ending vistas. This is not the end of the earth, but local lore says that you can see it from here.
