Wild Alaska Sportfishing

Wild Alaska offers a unique opportunity for fishermen in search of a remote or wilderness experience. Wild Alaska Sportfishing trips combine the best of small ship cruising with a highly focused, all- inclusive sport fishing trip. This fishing for the serious fisherman, plus the quiet relaxation and personal service of a private yacht.

Trips are limited to eight guests with only four guests per guided fishing boat. Virtually everything is included- all you need is your fishing license! This private and personal environment is perfect for couples, families and small groups. What better place to be alone with friends, family, clients or coworkers? No crowds here!

Each day you'll board our all weather boats with one of our experienced USCG- licensed guides for full day of fishing. Don’t worry about getting seasick -the sheltered waters of the inside passage seldom become unruly and the norm is to fish on calm or glassy water. Even if the wind does blow, we are always able to find sheltered water.

Since the yacht is your floating lodge, you will be mobile. That’s right, you follow the fish! You aren't tied to any specific location. No waiting for the fish to run near you, or race to the “hotspots” to beat other lodge boats to the fish. Seldom will you need to run far from your floating home to find fish but more importanly, seldom do will you fish near other boats! This translates tom More time to spend fishing or experiencing the beauty of the local wildlife.

Sport Fishing Excursions

Wild Alaska trips combine a highly focused, all-inclusive sport fishing trip with the personal service of a small ship Alaskan cruise and are limited to eight guests.  Since the yacht is the lodge, it is mobile and follows the fish. Typically, the Perserverance, the mother ship, relocates each day to a new and secluded moorage while guests are out fishing.

Each day, guests leave the Perserverance to board an all-weather boat (four guests limit) with one of the experienced USCG-licensed guides for a full day of fishing.

Fish, Fish, Fish!

Pursue the five species of Pacific salmon, Pacific halibut, Lingcod and a variety of Rockfish.  Rainbow, Cutthroat, Brook trout, Dolly Varden and Steelhead are also seasonally available in fresh water.  Dungeness crab, spot prawns and clams are among some of the favorite quarries.

Seafood Processing

Later that day, guests return to the Perseverance where the crew will clean, process, vacuum pack and freeze the fish for the guest’s return trip home.  Frozen fish are packed in airline approved wet lock boxes for the flight.

The Perserverance

The Perseverance is the perfect vessel for an Alaskan small ship cruise and sport fishing adventure
The Perseverance is the perfect vessel for an Alaskan small ship cruise and sport fishing adventure
A true ocean-going vessel built in 1996 to commercial standards, the Perseverance has always been a private yacht operating under strict US Coast Guard regulations.

Fully equipped with stabilizers, its 83-foot length and 26-foot beam ensure a steady, comfortable and safe ship for cruising the inlets and passages of Alaska.  Powered by two 350 h.p. Cummins diesel engines, three Cummins generators, and carrying 15,000 gallons of fuel and 7000 gallons of fresh water, the Perseverance can cruise for 7500 miles non-stop and produce all the electricity necessary.

The pilothouse is packed with modern navigation and communication equipment including redundant GPS chart plotters, radar, VHF radios and control systems.  Communications are available via VHF radio, cellular telephone, fax, Internet and emergency satellite phone.
Once aboard the Perserverance main deck, guests immediately appreciate its immense size.  Located inside are the galley, dining area, lounge and two forward crew cabins.
Below deck are four spacious ensuite staterooms, each with private shower. Two queen-sized and two with double bunks. A third bunk accompanies the queen rooms for the inclusion of a child or third person.

Everything is provided aboard a 25 foot, all-weather, offshore aluminum Wooldridge fishing boat powered by twin four-stroke Yamaha outboards. High-tech electronics include: Lowrance color sonars, GPS plotters and Cannon downriggers

Fishing Gear

Light tackle is the key to a fun and sporting fight while fishing. The salmon tackle consists of Okuma Catalina baitcasting or Diawa saltwater fly reels spooled with 20 lb. Ironsilk monofilament line. Wild Alaska uses 10' 6" graphite trolling rods with super action.
